"One of the most suprising things in eye tracking is how fast the blue ball moves"

There's a nice podcast from UXPod with Jakob Nielsen. About minute 7:30, Nielsen segues from talking about voice recognition and audio interfaces to the speed of large screens in terms of human input bandwidth. Vision is to hearing as cable modems are to dialup modems. In Nielsen's terms, vision is a "fast, fast input channel".

Stomper Scrutinizer: EyeTracking

In our quest to improve the Stomper Scrutinizer vision simulation browser, we've been conducting some tests in our usability lab with the Tobii eye tracker. Here's a look at how the eye moves as a user shops on Amazon while using the Scrutinizer:

Congratulations to Adobe for a great new product -- Adobe AIR went 1.0 today. AIR is Flash for the desktop, with a built in web browser engine, and all the normal Flash graphic goodness.

Now with Auto-Zoom

It's been about 6 weeks since we released Stomper Scrutinizer to the world. We've gotten some great feedback -- and hey, that's what release early, release often is all about.

The latest version, released Feb 8th includes includes AUTO-ZOOM, which manipulates zoom level automatically based upon mouse velocity as well as user bookmarks so you can scrutinize your designs more efficiently. Of course, you can turn this off with the VIEW menu and return to using the scroll wheel or arrow keys to manipulate zoom.

Findability: An Important Concept!

We're hard at work on the Stomper Scrutinizer 1.0 release and along the way we're working on videos to support the top ten uses. Some time ago we published a video that illustrates the amazing truth about your vision, supporting the use case of "Tell the story of how your eye's work".
